Heating water buffer memory

Heating water buffer tank WGJ-BE 800/1000

Product overview

The WGJ-BE heating water buffer tank is a robust heat storage tank for central heating systems, solar thermal systems, and heat pumps. It collects and stores excess heat, compensates for power fluctuations, and improves the efficiency of the heating system.

Available in two versions (WGJ-BE 800 and WGJ-BE 1000), the storage tank is suitable for larger heating circuits and offers a durable, easy-to-integrate solution for heating installations.

Technical data

WGJ-BE 800: Storage volume approx. 710 l, standstill losses approx. 62 W, weight ~143 kg. WGJ-BE 1000: Storage volume approx. 830 l, standstill losses approx. 71 W, weight ~160 kg. Maximum operating pressure: 0.3 MPa; Maximum operating temperature: 80 °C.

Connection dimensions: Connection piece (KP) internal thread 1½", heating element connection (MG) internal thread 1½", temperature sensor connection (CT) 3/8", Drain (ZS) internal thread 3/4".

Material and insulation

The tank is made of steel (raw inside) with an anti-corrosive paint finish on the outside and features 100 mm of soft polystyrene foam insulation. The outer shell is constructed of laminate to ensure dimensional stability and an attractive appearance.

Areas of application and advantages

The WGJ-BE buffer storage tank is suitable for integration with boilers, solar thermal systems, and heat pumps. It temporarily absorbs excess heat, prevents frequent cycling of burners and heat generators, and thus contributes to the system's service life and efficiency.

Thanks to its large volumes and low heat losses, the storage tank ensures stable flow temperatures and better controllability of the heating system, especially with variable heat generation.

Safety and operating conditions

The storage tank may only be operated with a functioning safety valve (opening pressure 0.3 MPa). This valve should ideally be installed in the heating water return line and must not have any shut-off valves between the valve and the tank. The arrow on the valve body must indicate the flow direction.

During operation, water may briefly leak from the safety valve—this indicates proper functioning and must never be blocked. The system must not be operated without an intact safety valve, as this could result in danger and damage.

Installation and electric heating

During the warranty period, only electric heaters with insulated heating elements may be used (e.g., ZUG ELEKTROMET type EJK). Single-phase 230 V cartridge heaters are available with power ratings of 1.5/2.0/3.0 kW; three-phase 400 V versions with power ratings of 3.0/4.5/6.0/9.0 kW are available. Connection must be carried out according to the wiring diagrams and by a qualified electrician.

Important: Do not plug in the power cord until the storage tank is completely filled with water. Observe the electrical fuse information and the installation instructions for the electric heater. During the warranty period, only approved, insulated radiators must be used.

Maintenance and service

Check the safety valve for proper function at least once a month, and before each restart after an extended shutdown. Repairs to the water system may only be carried out by qualified personnel. Regular visual inspections of the insulation and connection points increase operational safety.

Warranty and information

Before installation and commissioning, the enclosed installation and operating instructions as well as the warranty conditions should be read carefully. The manufacturer reserves the right to make design changes as part of product modernization, which may not necessarily be reflected in these instructions.

If you have any questions about compatibility with existing components or selecting the right electric auxiliary heater, we will be happy to advise you — please contact your specialist installer or our customer service.
